公元2080年，由于太陽能天幕的應(yīng)用，人類基本上擺脫了能源危機。由于新能源的廣泛應(yīng)用損害了眾多傳統(tǒng)能源商人的利益，他們想法設(shè)法要除掉發(fā)明太陽能天幕的馬博士。時值馬博士發(fā)明太陽能天幕十周年紀念，未來警察周志豪（劉德華 飾）與妻子美莉（范冰冰 飾）負責(zé)大會的安保工作，不料受命于能源商人的卡龍（樊少皇 飾）帶領(lǐng)手下的改造人兵團中途闖入大會現(xiàn)場，企圖殺死馬博士。為了保護馬博士，由周志豪帶領(lǐng)的眾多未來警察們與改造人兵團發(fā)生激戰(zhàn)，在掩護馬博士離開會場之時，周志豪妻子美莉不幸犧牲，卡龍一方也損失慘重。并未殺死馬博士的能源商們事后竊取政府正在研發(fā)的時光旅行絕密資料，并且把卡龍和妻子斐娜改造成為終極殺人工具，他們要回到過去殺死年輕的馬博士，以圖改變未來。為了保護馬博士，滿懷喪妻之痛的周杰豪被改造成為超級戰(zhàn)士，攜女兒淇淇（徐嬌 飾）回到2020年尋找并保護年僅12歲的馬...
